The Colandish, a world first, is revolutionizing cooking habits

Delight yourself and your guests with the Colandish

The first-ever product of its kind, the "Colandish", from the handy household helper company HOUSEWARES GERMANY (HWG), based in Singen, southern Germany, is transforming cooking habits with its versatile all-in-one solution: it’s a practical sieve and - thanks to the Pop-up silicone base - also an attractive bowl. The Colandish can be used to prepare, serve and store dishes. The Colandish was developed in collaboration with the designers Michael & Knox and is patent pending worldwide.

"The Colandish is currently our absolute favorite", said Christoph Hendreich, Managing Partner at HWG, "because compared to traditional bowls Colandish is not only compact and incredibly convenient, but also environmentally friendly: instead of using a sieve and lots of different bowls, dishes can be prepared with a single solution. This means less washing dishes and less work. Sieve, mix and serve with just one kitchen tool.”

The idea is that you can pour food into the Colandish directly from the pan. With just a gentle, sideways press of the finger, the integrated Pop-up silicone base flips up to cover the sieve, forming a bowl, allowing the food item to be further prepared and served in the all-in-one Colandish. There is also an optional silicone lid that helps keep the food warm or can prevent food odors spreading during storage in the refrigerator.

As ever with HWG products, the materials and workmanship are excellent: the Colandish is made of a very high quality plastic called tritan, stainless steel, ceramic and food-safe silicone. It meets the relevant international food contact standards, such as FDA/LFGB. In particular, the combination of ceramic and silicone is seen as being new and surprising - so it's likely to be the focus of interest at any dining table. The Colandish is dishwasher safe. National and international companies have already expressed their interest in the distribution of this new kitchen tool.

Seal bags – super easy, super fast

The Sealabag is the new household helper from HWG

Two hand movements have to be enough" - that was the goal of the handy household helper company from Singen, southern Germany, HOUSEWARES GERMANY (HWG). As a manufacturer and developer of practical household aids, with the Sealabag, the team now has a tool in its range that lets anyone seal bags easily, quickly and safely. The Sealabag automatically dispenses, cuts off and applies an adhesive sealing strip to every kind of bag - whether it’s sandwich bags for lunch, bags for frozen food or rubbish bags.

Functionality and stylish design were at the forefront of the handy kitchen tool's development. The aim was for the Sealabag to technically perfect the functionality of similar products already on the market. The result is so good that it is not only an indispensable help in the home, but also for companies such as bakeries. One of the great advantages of the Sealabag is its multi-functionality: as standalone unit, it can be set up wherever it is needed. Thanks to its non-slip feet, it’s safe and stable on all surfaces. The Sealabag can also be mounted securely, in a cupboard or decoratively on end of a kitchen unit. And the Sealabag can also be used as a standalone unit, even after installation: simply remove it from the wall mounting bracket. "The initial feedback has been very positive," said Christoph Hendreich, Managing Partner at HWG, "so much that we've registered the Sealabag for international design protection."

Learn more at: www.sealabag.com

Trimr: shaker and bottle in one!

The first hybrid bottle for travelling, playing sports and at home

The handy household helper company from Singen, southern Germany, HOUSEWARES GERMANY (HWG) is known for its innovative household and kitchen appliances. Over the last few years HWG has repeatedly launched world firsts and established them on the market: One such product is the Trimr, the world's first hybrid bottle - a drinking bottle with an integrated shaker.

The things people love most about drinks containers and shakers are all united in Trimr. The hybrid bottle, from the US company Trimr, also features an integrated straw: surveys indicate that 82 percent of women prefer to drink through a straw. Trimr lets you decide whether you'd rather take your drink through a straw or drink from a cup.

The highlight is the technology of the integrated shaker: the spring is made of surgical stainless steel (316) and is shaped like the Cyclone™ Agitator. In contrast to spherical springs this gives it an ideal operating range, creating the perfect mixing result: protein, nutrition and dietary supplement shakes, as well as dressings or BBQ sauces achieve a uniformly creamy consistency. The Trimr is made of environmentally friendly materials, such as Eastman Tritan®, it is BPA free and free of taste and odor. Naturally, the shape is just as good as the functionality: the Trimr sits ergonomically in the hand and fits in all standard cup holders. Weighing only 200 grams and with a 700ml capacity the Trimr is ideal for taking with you on the go.

HWG is the official distributor [in Europe/Germany] for Trimr from the USA.

Learn more at: www.trimr.uk

HOUSEWARES GERMANY comes to Ambiente with new products.

7th - 11th February 2014, Messe Frankfurt, Hall 6, Stand B 20

Over the last twelve months HOUSEWARES GERMANY, the company from Singen, Southern German, had aimed to extend their kitchen utensil range by four products. And they achieved that goal. At the Ambiente trade fair, from 7th to 11th February at the Messe Frankfurt, the three shareholders F. Strauss, M. Haberstroh and C. Hendreich will be presenting the innovations in person: in Hall 6, Stand B 20.

Many of the household and kitchen gadgets developed in-house by HOUSEWARES GERMANY are bestsellers, all around the globe. The company's latest products may well follow this trend: for example, the professional can opener Profi Can MULTI from the bestselling Profi Can series. This absolutely safe can opener has been was extended by two additional features - a bottle opener for bottle caps and a knife sharpener. "Our ideas for new products come from going out into the world with open eyes and ears, as well as constantly searching for improvements", said Christoph Hendreich, the company's Managing Partner.

This was also how the hand operated drum grater grateKING came about. Thanks to the vacuum suction cup it is particularly stable, allowing an exceptional transfer of force when turning the crank handle. Is very smart, especially the angled grater insert, which the grated material simply falls out of by itself. Huge time savings are also promised by the Defrosting and Chopping Board. Frozen foods can be defrosted up to ten times faster - so gently and quickly that no bacteria can form. The spice mill millmii impresses just as much by its eye-catching looks, as by its functionality. The trick: the millmii is simply rolled back and forth, between your hands - the grated spices fall onto your plate and into your pots without any effort at all.

In addition to these innovations for the kitchen HOUSEWARES GERMANY will be presenting many other useful household helpers, such as the collapsible silicone bucket from the popular FOLD AWAY series. There is so much to discover. The HOUSEWARES GERMANY stand will certainly be worth a visit.

Excellent defrosting can be really simple.

The defrosting and chopping board from HOUSEWARES GERMANY brings the highest standards from gastronomy into the home kitchen.

The catering industry has very strict hygiene guidelines. Sensible ideas from that world can also be usefully applied at home, too – and that was the idea of the company HOUSEWARES GERMANY, based in the town of Singen, in the south of the country, that has now developed into a bestseller: The Defrosting and Chopping Board ensures the best possible preservation of quality and taste during the defrosting process, while observing the catering trade’s strict hygienic standards for food processing.

The largest markets for the professional standard board so far are South Korea and the United States. "In Korea, we even have an exclusive agreement for 4 years and we are currently negotiating with major customers in Japan and Italy", says Christoph Hendreich, Managing Partner of HOUSEWARES GERMANY. Mr Hendreich did not want to reveal all of the secrets of the defrosting and chopping board, but we did learn this much: Thanks to the high thermal conductivity of the stain resistant, specially coated aluminum, frozen foods can defrost both gently, but also up to 65% faster. Hendreich is also proud of the board’s long lifespan. Being as robust and handy as it is - currently available as a 30 x 20 cm model - it is also well suited for camping trips. A larger version of 30 x 40 cm is planned for next spring.

The changeable cutting surfaces are available in different colors: If you like, you can color match the kitchen or, as is common practice in restaurants, assign various food categories to certain colors in order to prevent germs or bacteria being transmitted in the kitchen. The cutting surfaces also come with options to suit different requirements: Choose between conventional PP and antibacterial, with silver ion treated PP, as well as TPU, which is a particularly gentle on knife blades and durable. The TPU cutting surfaces can be boiled in a pot.

What characterizes the defrosting and chopping board succinctly? Christoph Hendreich answers with just three words: "Hygiene, quality and speed."

The Profi Can MULTI by HOUSEWARES GERMANY

It's the first can opener for bottles. And it also sharpens knives.

The Profi Can Series, from the research and development department of HOUSEWARES GERMANY has a new addition: The Profi Can MULTI. As with the rest of the series, safety is paramount. In addition to its main task of opening cans, this clever utensil has two other functions: an integrated knife sharpener and a bottle opener for bottle caps.

"Our customers often complain that their kitchen drawers are overflowing with all the equipment that you need in the household these days", says Christoph Hendreich, Managing Partner, at the company's headquarters in Singen, Southern Germany. "With the Profi Can MULTI can opener we have developed a utensil for the kitchen which is both space-saving and fulfills three functions at once." Safety, as ever, comes first: The Profi Can MULTI is designed so that when opening cans no sharp edges or metal fragments arise - neither on the can itself, nor on the lid. This is because the can is simply opened in the fold where it was sealed during manufacture.

When sharpening knives the Profi Can MULTI's suction cup is securely fixed to a smooth surface. Buried in the handle are two differently constructed blades made of tungsten carbide, one for kitchen knives with “V” blades and one for serrated knives and scissors. Christoph Hendreich offers this tip, "By the way, thanks to its suction cup you can store the Profi Can MULTI by fixing it to the refrigerator, for example. And that way you always have this useful multi-tool to hand - without having to look in the drawer."

Spiraled and curled - vegetables really can look this exciting.

The spiral cutter Spirelix from HOUSEWARES GERMANY brings new decorative ideas to the kitchen.

A tasty dish should do more than simply please the palate - it should also be a feast for the eyes! So constantly conjuring up new decorative delights for the table is a real challenge. But now you can look forward to that challenge with Spirelix, the new spiral slicer from HOUSEWARES GERMANY.

What makes Spirelix different to conventional spiral cutters? "Spirelix is easier to use and also smaller than its competitors. But with a blade length of about 7cm it still works with the largest of diameters - that's vegetables up to 15cm thick", says Christoph Hendreich, Managing Partner at HOUSEWARES GERMANY. This means that neither zucchini, nor other vegetables and fruits are safe from Spirelix. But the real highlight is that in no time at all, the Spirelix lets you make much more than just the usual spirals. The special arrangement of the blades on the patented julienne attachment produces fine ringlets. And this is really new: decorate salads with surprising spirals, with curls of radishes, zucchini or cucumbers, for example. The Spirelix opens up new possibilities with hot food, too: "How great do you think fried potato curls taste? Check it out! I promise you, this is definitely worth trying.", promises Hendreich, who is also delighted that the design of the new spiral cutter is protected in the U.S., Europe and China.

The secret behind how Spirelix cuts even harder vegetables effortlessly is that the blades are not stamped, but etched. This makes them considerably sharper. And to make sure nobody hurts themselves when reaching into a drawer, the Spirelix has a neat blade protector. The spiral cutter also has handy additional accessories: a fixing rod, which grips softer vegetables when cutting.

HOUSEWARES GERMANY (HWG Products GmbH) cooks up a recipe for success

Or why Japanese households love Southern German ideas

They are found in almost every household - products from the company HOUSEWARES GERMANY (HWG), based in Singen, in southern Germany. Many of the household and kitchen gadgets developed there are sold around the globe. Their soft grip ‘ProfiCan’ can opener has sold millions in Germany alone. However, most end-users do not connect the can opener to HWG, because most of their products are not sold with the company’s own branding: As a so-called Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) HWG supplies middlemen who then market the products under their own name.

This year, HOUSEWARES GERMANY is planning on bringing up to five new custom developments to the market. The ideas for new products come from the company’s team members, who explore the world of household goods with eyes and ears wide open: "The partners and staff have over 25 years of professional experience in this field. Over time you develop an eye for what is lacking in the market or what can be improved", says Christoph Hendreich, HWG’s Managing Director. Some ideas also come from customers. "Sometimes we get really good suggestions that make it all the way to product development and then into full production", says Hendreich.

Owing to their high quality, excellent functionality and appealing design, home and kitchen goods from the house of HWG are in great demand all around the world. Anything that is ‘Made in Germany’ benefits from the country’s superb reputation for engineering and manufacturing, something HWG is naturally delighted to be a part of. Japan and the U.S.A. are particularly stable markets for the company, with householders in France, Italy and Spain also valuing the company's products highly.

Another mainstay of HOUSEWARES GERMANY is the sale of goods that are not manufactured in-house. One example are the well known vegetable slicers TNS 2000 and TNS 3000, for which HWG has secured the exclusive worldwide sales rights. The range of household goods HWG markets is extensive. B2B customers are invited to enjoy hands on experience of the products at the leading Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt, where HWG are regular guests. The company also exhibits at regional consumer trade fairs, such as the IBO in Friedrichshafen or the Southwest Fair at Villingen-Schwenningen. There may just be a surprise or two for visitors when they recognize familiar, faithful kitchen and household helpers at the HOUSEWARES GERMANY trade fair stands this year.
